Screeching noise when I turn on my computer

If you have a very high pitched noise from your computer when you start it up it may be caused by the microphone boost being set too high. To reduce the microphone boost follow the instructions below:

1. Click on your Start Menu.

2. Select Control Panel.

3. Select View by Small Icons or Large Icons.

4. Select Sound.

5. Select Recording tab.

6. Click on Microphone and select Properties.

7. Select Levels tab.

8. Slide Microphone Boost bar to the left until it is at +10.0dB.

9. Select Ok.

Further Troubleshooting

Changing my microphone boost to +10.0 dB hasn’t fixed this issue.

You may further reduce the microphone boost if +10.0dB has not resolved the issue. Use the slide bar to reduce this further and then select Ok to apply the settings. Keep reducing the microphone boost until the issue has been resolved.

I don’t want to disable or reduce the microphone boost on my computer, are there any other options to fix this issue?
