Sydney, AUSTRALIA – July 20, 2010: As part of its 25 year anniversary, Toshiba (Australia) Pty Limited today announced the introduction of more than 36 notebooks including three Anniversary devices, showcasing its commitment to leading notebook innovation and design.Drawing on its heritage of producing quality and reliable notebooks, Toshiba has introduced three new stand-out products:
• Libretto W100 (strictly limited edition) – the world’s first dual screen notebook running Windows 7
• Portégé R700 – Toshiba’s lightest and thinnest, full-function 13” notebook
• AC100 Cloud Companion – an Android-based mobile internet device for all your cloud computing needs
“Since the launch of the world’s first mass-market notebook computer, the Toshiba T1100, in April 1985, Toshiba has remained a pioneer in the development of mobile computing,” Mark Whittard, Toshiba (Australia) Pty Limited, Managing Director said.
“Toshiba is on target to reach 100 million shipments of notebooks worldwide later this year – a significant achievement for the past 25 years.”

Innovation continues
Some of the first to market notebook technologies introduced by Toshiba include:

• First notebook with a DVD drive
• First notebook with a Lithium Ion battery
• First ultraportable notebook with a 128GB solid state drive, among other technologies
“Toshiba keeps breaking mobile technology barriers and that’s really something to celebrate,” Mr Whittard said.
In another statement of innovation, Toshiba released the Satellite A660 – an exciting and immersive 3D gaming and movie viewing experience in a 16” screen. Standout features are the high class video and audio with superior performance to handle demanding multimedia tasks.
Market success has been ongoing as proven by recent rankings from a leading analyst house.
“In Australia in 2009, Toshiba (Australia) was ranked second in total notebook shipments, according to IDC. Toshiba (Australia) has for the past 25 years been ranked as the first or second most recognisable brand in the notebook market,” Mr Whittard said.
Libretto W100

Embodying a quarter-century of innovation, the Libretto® W100 is a next-generation ultra-mobile concept PC. This limited-edition 25th Anniversary device goes beyond slates and netbooks to deliver something more: a full Windows® 7 experience that can be enjoyed across two multi-touch touch screens.
The Libretto lets users easily share, stream and synchronise files and multimedia through their home network or cloud. It also comes with a USB port and built-in memory reader to transfer data to and from external hard drives and other popular gear.
Portégé R700
The Portégé R700 is designed for executives who want a stylish no-compromise thin and light high performance notebook. The range includes models featuring solid state drives and the top-end Intel® Core™ i7 Processors. The aerodynamic magnesium-alloy honeycomb structure ensures its thin and light features.
AC 100 Cloud Companion
