Sydney, 21 September 2009: Toshiba today announced the appointment of Mark Whittard as the Managing Director of Toshiba (Australia) Pty Ltd effective November 1, 2009.In his new role Mr Whittard will oversee the Electronic Imaging Division, Medical Division, Information Systems Division, Research and Development and Corporate Services Division.
He replaces Mr Hiroshi Kurihara who will return to Japan in mid November to take up a new and demanding role as General Manager for all PC overseas sales operations.
Mr Whittard joined Toshiba (Australia) Pty Ltd (TAP) in August 1998 and has been the General Manager for the Information Systems Division (ISD) since May 2004.
In April 2007 he was instrumental in extending the Toshiba ISD business to include Toshiba’s audio visual (AV) products including high definition LCD televisions and DVD players.

Until Mr Whittard’s replacement is announced, he will act as General Manager of ISD as well as Managing Director of TAP.
